This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information we receive through this Site and in the course of providing insurance services.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (Where Applicable)

We process personal information based on: (a) performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps at your request; (b) our legitimate interests in operating a licensed insurance agency; (c) compliance with legal obligations under Georgia insurance law; and (d) your consent, where we have obtained it. You may withdraw consent where it is the stated basis, but this may affect our ability to provide services.

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We share personal information only as follows:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not sell personal information as defined under applicable law.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide services, comply with our legal obligations under Georgia insurance record-keeping requirements (typically five to seven years following policy expiration or termination), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When retention is no longer necessary, we delete or anonymize personal information.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Site forms use encrypted HTTPS connections. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and disclaim liability for security breaches to the extent permitted by applicable law. In the event of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by applicable state law, including Georgia's data breach notification law (O.C.G.A. Section 10-1-912).

8. State-Specific Privacy Rights

    Georgia Residents

    Georgia insurance consumers have rights under Georgia's Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Act (O.C.G.A. Title 33, Chapter 39), which governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information in connection with insurance transactions. These rights include:

    • Right of Access: The right to request access to recorded personal information held in connection with an insurance transaction.
    • Right to Correct: The right to request correction of inaccurate information.
    • Right to Notice: The right to receive notice of information practices at the time of an insurance transaction.

    Georgia does not currently have a comprehensive consumer data privacy law. Residents may contact the Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance (oci.georgia.gov) with complaints about information practices in the context of insurance transactions.

    Future States

    As Olive Cover expands licensure, this section will be updated to address the privacy laws of each additional state. States with active comprehensive data privacy laws (Virginia, Colorado, Texas, Florida, etc.) will have specific provisions added when Olive Cover becomes licensed there. This Privacy Policy will be updated and the effective date revised.

    9. Federal Privacy Notices

    As a licensed insurance agency, Olive Cover provides required federal privacy disclosures under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and applicable FTC regulations. We do not share your nonpublic personal financial information with nonaffiliated third parties for marketing purposes. Our information sharing practices are limited to those described in Section 5 above, which fall within the GLBA's permitted exceptions. A separate GLBA Notice will be provided to you at the initiation of the customer relationship and annually thereafter as required by applicable regulations.

    10. Children's Privacy

    This Site is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will promptly delete it.     11. Cookies and Tracking

    We use cookies that are necessary for the Site to function. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies. We do not share browsing information with third-party advertisers. You may disable cookies through your browser settings, but this may affect Site functionality. We do not respond to Do Not Track signals at this time, as no industry standard exists for this technology.

    12. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will post the updated policy with a revised effective date. For material changes affecting how we use personal information, we will provide notice by email (to the address associated with your records, if applicable) or by a prominent notice on the Site. Continued use of the Site after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
