HOME BUSINESS INSURANCE ยท GEORGIA

Georgia home business insurance for real operations run out of the home.

A homeowners policy covers incidental hobby-level business activity and very little else. A real home-based business needs a Business Owners Policy or a home business endorsement. Choosing the right product depends on revenue, liability exposure, employees, and foot traffic.

WHAT'S COVERED

How Georgia home business coverage works

Business Endorsement

An add-on to homeowners that adds liability and limited business property for low-risk operations (tutoring, online sales).

Business Owners Policy

BOP combines commercial property (equipment, inventory) with general liability. Right for most home businesses with revenue.

Professional Liability

E&O for consultants, designers, accountants, and therapists. Covers financial harm from professional advice or services.

Cyber Liability

Covers data breach response, ransomware, and customer notification costs. Important for any business handling client data.

IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS

What home business coverage does not cover

Commercial auto use

Using a personal vehicle for business deliveries, client transport, or frequent business mileage needs a commercial auto policy or a business-use endorsement. Personal auto will deny a business-use claim.

Employees without workers comp

If you have any employees (including a 1099 worker treated as an employee), Georgia workers comp law generally requires coverage at 3 or more employees. Below that, it is strongly recommended for any injury exposure.

High-hazard operations

Manufacturing, welding, heavy fabrication, and food service from the home are generally outside home business product appetite. These need standalone commercial coverage.

Client visits without disclosure

Clients coming to your home for paid services increases premises liability. The carrier needs to know. Undisclosed client visits are a common reason for claim denial at the time of loss.
